I have often been asked the question “Do we have a destiny?” This is an easy question to answer. Yes, we do have a destiny, however, it may take a couple of attempts (lifetimes) to achieve it. Why is this? If our destiny involves another person and the other person decides to do something different – whether through fear (which is the most common reason) or other reasons – we cannot fulfill that destiny.
I have known people who have not achieved their destiny in their lifetime because of the whims of other people. My own life is an example of this. My first husband was supposed to work with me and stay with me for my entire life. After I went into metaphysical work he came with me, giving up his job as a painter and decorator to be a massage therapist, reflexologist, and Tai Chi instructor. But for some reason he was not supportive. He would not answer the phone when my clients called, would not help me without financial compensation when I did my teaching, and he would not help me with lunch when I gave an all-day seminar. He had found his passion with Tai Chi, massage, and reflexology, but he did not like me working. He wanted me to stay a housewife and be there for him with a cup of tea and a snack after his work. I did that for 15 years as a mother and wife. When the children were older and no longer needed me, it was time for me – but not according to my husband. His lack of support and dislike of my working made my job very hard. Finally, I realized he was not going to change and I made the choice to leave him.
